I was inspired to join the American Medical Student Association because I wanted to become more actively involved in advocacy and contribute to meaningful change in the healthcare system. As a medical student, I quickly realized that medicine is not only about academic achievement and clinical training, but also about understanding the broader social and policy factors that impact patient care and medical education. Through AMSA, I saw an opportunity to engage in advocacy projects that focus on improving healthcare accessibility, particularly in areas such as women’s health, and to work alongside like-minded peers who are passionate about advancing equity in medicine.
My role as Student Editor of The New Physician further motivated me in my involvement within AMSA. I was driven by the desire to make a meaningful difference in the medical community beyond my school. Through this role, I recognized the power of storytelling and representation in shaping how future physicians think about medicine. This platform allows me to amplify diverse voices, highlight important issues that are often overlooked in traditional medical training, and foster a stronger sense of connection among medical students nationwide. Ultimately, serving in a national leadership capacity through ÃÛÑ¿apphas enabled me to channel my passion for advocacy, creativity, and service into tangible impact, helping contribute to a more compassionate and socially responsive medical community.
