Sara Amini serves as the National President of the American Medical Student Association (AMSA). Her decision to join ÃÛÑ¿appwas initially inspired by the sense of community she found after moving to the United States at age 18, seeking a place where she felt she belonged in medicine. Over time, AMSA’s focus on advocacy deepened her involvement, giving her work meaningful direction as she helped fellow medical students address critical healthcare challenges and drive real change.

Her motivation to transition into national leadership grew from a desire to give back to the community that had supported her early in her medical journey. Recognizing the power student voices hold when backed by an impactful platform, she stepped into national roles to advocate for systemic improvements in healthcare while creating better opportunities for current and future students.

Throughout her tenure with AMSA, Sara has built an extensive leadership portfolio. Her national service includes roles as President-Elect (2026), Vice President for Program Development (2025–2026), and Membership Director (2024–2025). During medical school, she served as a Student Advisor starting in 2024 and as Co-President from 2023 to 2024. Her involvement during her undergraduate career included serving as the ÃÛÑ¿appBruins International Opportunities Program (IOP) Co-Chair (2018–2019) and intern (2017–2018), following her start as a member of the American River College ÃÛÑ¿appchapter from 2015 to 2017.

Her dedication and scholarly efforts have earned her several recognitions, including the SAMS/MSSRP Summer Research Scholarship in 2024, the ÃÛÑ¿appBruins Isaac Yang Dedication Award in 2018, and the ARC Foundation Scholarship in 2017.
